Elston are one of the largest privately owned and operated financial services companies in Australia. Elston strive to provide customised financial solutions through a client-focused approach with a positive, engaged team and culture that combines holistic wealth advice with the benefits of direct investment.
Committed to a core set of principles, Elston’s expert team is fully dedicated to achieving their goal of being “Australia’s most trusted and respected financial services firm”. To maintain such a goal, all internal processes and practices must be streamlined and manageable for staff to perform at optimal productivity and efficiency.
It was for this exact reason that when Elston recognised certain issues across their distributed workforce (QLD, NSW, ACT) with respect to collaboration challenges and inconsistent data, they reached out to Mangano IT. Ben McNamara COO stated
With the systems we had in place there was a clear lack of integration across the team. We had multiple versions of documents and data sets that were creating unnecessary challenges.
Already delivering a managed service agreement to Elston, Mangano IT evaluated the situation and decided that migrating to Microsoft Office 365 would best resolve the collaboration and inconsistent data issues, but more importantly, position Elston to elevate their business processes to foster growth, and also enable secure access to any piece of data, at any time from any location.
Over a period of 12 months the migration was delivered in two stages. Stage one incorporated the implementation of email and messaging tools that included Exchange Online, Yammer, and Skype for Business.
Assisting with collaboration on critical documents, Exchange gave Elston employees a focused Inbox that can prioritize important messages. Skype for Business has enabled the distributed workforce to conference and communicate anytime, anywhere without the need for an onsite conferencing system, while Yammer was the catalyst for the most significant change within the business according to Ben.
Yammer was something that was really underestimated when it was implemented but has truly taken off within the business. It was a bit of a surprise but it has become the number one communication tool within the business.
Acting as a workplace social network, Yammer allows the user to build communities of interest that bring employees together around a shared topic, interest, area or practice. Employees can share, create, and edit content right in the application and every group gets a shared set of resources to manage documents and content, share notes, and organise responsibilities.
Stage two was focused on the implementation of collaboration specific tools that included SharePoint, Teams and OneNote. Transforming Elston’s processes, SharePoint has given staff a dynamic and productive tool for every department and division, with the ability to now share data and resources across the business eliminating the unnecessary doubling up of documents. Teams’ links directly with other Office 365 apps to embed a streamlined conferencing system for both staff and clients, while “OneNote has opened many doors for new ways of efficiency” says Ben.
The first to admit they are no IT experts, Ben advised it’s for that reason that Mangano IT offer such value to Elston. Migrating to Microsoft Office 365 was a necessary move for their business infrastructure in a rapidly changing environment.
We see Mangano IT as a critical extension of our business. Paul is essentially a business analyst who delivers business-led initiatives via the IT solutions Mangano IT provide for us. It’s never about selling a product for Mangano IT, it’s about how that solution can improve X, or generate Y for our business and clients.
Elston’s migration to Microsoft Office 365 was undertaken to improve certain collaboration issues and data inconsistencies. Through working with Mangano IT they enhanced communication methods across the business and developed consistent messaging methods amongst the distributed workforce. They also gained the added benefit of securing access to any data, any time from any location, and with both businesses looking to scale in the near future, it’s a relationship Ben McNamara is sure will continue to flourish.
It’s never easy to get staff to re-wire and take on new operating programs and models, but Mangano IT were fantastic at it, and as Elston are expanding and so are Mangano, they are a business we look forward to working with well into the future.
